Government Reform

Our City Council needs reform. What we don’t need is four more years of scandal and poor leadership. We should be proud of our government and elected officials.

We need fresh, independent leadership. I have a sincere desire to bring reform to the current system and to put honestly and accountability back in city government. I will insist upon fiscal responsibility, an end to slush funds and secret bank accounts, and responsiveness to constituents when elected.

Education

When I decided to go back to school and get an education, I spent eight years working during the day and attending college and law school at night. I take education as seriously today as I did then.

In 2005 the City Council voted to reduce class sizes, but since then, they’ve actually increased*. We need to turn that trend around. Graduation rates are on the rise**, but we still have work to do - 60% is still too low. Simply put, we need better schools in our district. We need to expand our opportunities in our neighborhoods. Schools - that’s where it all begins.

Economic Development

As an attorney in such matters as immigration, landlord and tenant issues, bankruptcy, and racial and sexual discrimination, I have a background of fighting for the rights of less fortunate New Yorkers. I want to continue to fight for them on the City Council by encouraging economic development.

We need lower taxes and greater opportunities for all New Yorkers. Safer streets and stronger schools will help our neighborhood economy grow. I’ll working for these things as your Councilmember because fighting for the people of New York is what I’ve always done.
